Evergreen Bio Mat is a bonded fibre matrix designed by Evergreen Soil Conservation Limited using materials made in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions.

Evergreen Bio Mat is a product designed for use on difficult sites that need greater early surface protection than that offered by conventional hydroseeding. We have developed this product using a blend of elongated wood fibres bound together with non-toxic adhesives to create a continuous three-dimensional erosion control blanket.

Evergreen Bio Mat is a sprayed on mulch mat, which when dry, is designed to protect the surface from wind and water erosion. The mat provides a skin over the treated surface and adheres to the soil, following the contours of the slope, avoiding the problem of under-rilling which often occurs beneath geotextile applications.

The surface of Evergreen Bio Mat is textured, reducing precipitation run-off velocity and capturing water to maintain an even soil moisture content. The matrix also forms a porous mat that protects the seeds and absorbs moisture to enhance their germination. The blanket slowly degrades as vegetation is established.

Slip zones that are likely to have concentrated run-off during the establishment period, fretting soils in cut batters, soft or sandy embankments, water table restoration and out of season protection are all examples of when Evergreen Bio Mat will provide additional protection while vegetation is being established.
